Ring’ outdoor installation by Arnaud Lapierre, in collaboration with Audi, which appeared at the Place Vendome in Paris for FIAC 2011 last month. It features a cylinder-shaped mirror dressed in 4-metre high cubes, creating the sense of a disturbed urban space. According to Lapierre:

The Ring’ is an installation that takes into consideration the urban space networking: the rhythm, flow, organization and spatial hierarchy. The installation embodies a visual effect that is to connect all of these interactions through the implementation of an optical effect: the repetition of a cubic mirror to break the perception of the place.

His inspiration derives from the human mind as a source, combining objects of emotion and desire, sensory translation and questioning; oftentimes creating a new interpretation or vision of the world.

The green (radish) soup is by far the healthiest dish I’ve had whilst in France these past three weeks. Notice, of course, the whiskey aperitif accompanying it. I’ve also been sampling the traditional southwestern regional produce and thanks to daily café gourmands, I now have a pot belly. Vive la France!
